    24.03.2017

Lipper, a global investment fund research company, for the second consecutive year has recognized CBL Eastern European Bond Fund R Acc USD as the best fund in 2016 in terms of return and risk within the Emerging Europe Bond category over both three- and five-year periods. The CBL Asset Management managed Fund invests in Eastern European government and corporate debt securities and returned annualized 4.2% and 6.0% over three and five-year periods, respectively.

CBL Asset Management funds have been regular winners of the Lipper Fund Awards. Specifically, CBL Eastern European Bond Fund received the same award last year for both three- and five-year periods. In 2012 CBL Eastern European Bond Fund received the award as the best in its category over three-year period. Also in 2013, CBL Russian Equity Fund was recognized as the best fund within Russian equity category over three years.

“Last year evolved very favorably for Eastern European debt markets, though not without volatility or challenges, both regional and global,” says Andris Kotans, co-manager of the Fund and board member of CBL Asset Management. “Our well-established investment process and efficient teamwork ensured we could navigate those challenges successfully. We see this as a sign of proof that our repeated Lipper Fund Awards are indeed a result of a systematic process and the unique expertise we have accumulated in Eastern European markets”, adds Andris Kotans.

Lipper, a Thomson Reuters company, is one of the leading global providers of fund information, research and ratings. Lipper Fund Award is recognized around the world as a mark of excellence by both fund managers and professional fund investors. Lipper evaluation methodology places particular emphasis on sustainable performance and risk, thus highlighting funds that combine strong performance and rigorous risk management. In choosing the winner, all the funds within European developing countries bond category that have at least three years of performance history, are registered for distribution in at least three European countries and are established according to the EU UCITS Directive, which is the common regulation in the European Union for open-ended investment funds, were evaluated.
